Tis’ the season for summer breezes, sunny skies and Iowa farmers’ markets! You can enjoy delicious, locally grown foods by supporting Southwest Iowa farmers’ markets. Nothing is better than biting into that first juicy tomato of the season. Creston, Corning, Stuart, Osceola, Lamoni, Leon and Bedford are all proud sponsors of community farmers’ markets. Iowa spends approximately 7.2 billion dollars on food imported from out of state. If every Iowan spent $10 per week on locally grown food, 1.5 billion dollars would stay in Iowa.
This farmers’ market brochure notes vendors who are SNAP EBT and Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program certified.
SNAP EBT can be used to purchase vegetables, fruits, meats, eggs, jellies, jams, baked goods, honey, cheeses, herbs and more at farmers’ markets where vendors are EBT SNAP certified.
Woman, Infants and Children vouchers and Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program vouchers can be used to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables at farmers’ markets whose vendors are certified for the Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program.
